Haiku Monday
Heavy woolen skies
endless dreary drizzle; still,
Chick-o-meter 10.
Haiku Monday is a multi-participant blog competition, hosted each week by the winner of the previous week's contest. Join us! You will find this week's theme and rules at Anya's.
Gorgeous misty images of green pastures and pretty cows, perfect for your lovely Haiku. Image #3 is so beautiful. I don't have a computer at present, just borrowed this one for an hour or so...I don't know if mine will or can be repaired, so if I am not around you will know why. Good luck in the competition. xoxoxo ♡
Terrific haiku! Atmospheric and wistful. Photos, too; I can almost smell the rain and the cow fur.
When I was growing up, I had a pet named Baby Bull (he was actually a steer, but that was his name anyway). I loved him with all my heart and would even ride on his back. One day, he was turned into hamburger. A couple years later, we moved to the city. And I stopped losing all my pets to food.
faery: these are beautiful cows. and so personable!
dianne: oh no! no computer! cannot live like that! Ill burn a chicken foot under my bed to ensure it is fixed and returned to you soon. Thanks about the photos. I had to get out from under the trees -and go to the valley.
moi: grrhahahaha. noooooo these cows cant be food- were friends!
eggy: thank you! glad you stopped by. I was just thinking about writing a rant on anthony bourdain. maybe next post.
Love, love, love. Their faces are so wonderful and I swear they get the whole camera thing. Moi's story? That would have SCARRED me for life. AGGHGHGHGH.
“Real haiku is the soul of poetry. Anything that is not actually present in one's heart is not haiku. The moon glows, flowers bloom, insects cry, water flows. There is no place we cannot find flowers or think of the moon. This is the essence of haiku. Go beyond the restrictions of your era, forget about purpose or meaning, separate yourself from historical limitations—there you will find the essence of true art, religion, and science.” ― Santoka Taneda, Mountain Tasting: Haiku and Journals of Santoka Taneda
Me likey the cows! I know you made their day - experience tells me that they do indeed like their pitchers taken! chick-o-meter is CLASSIC! Good way to turn a dreary day into happy bovine sunshine!
There is something about your photos in particular, Chicky, that brings out other senses in me, not just visually, particularly the sense of smell. Looking at these, I can feel the hint of moisture and cold in the air, I can smell the cows, the damp earth. It's fabulous that your images take me to where you live and what you are experiencing. Virtual visits are better than not at all and stimulates how i imagine your life there.
It feels as though i have the entire forest to myself and it speaks to me in snaps, crow calls and feathery evergreen songs.
Black sticks colonized with frilly botanica colored lichens line the landscape and my breath seems to hang in the air like a frozen sculpture. I stay out as long as the wind chill allows, just long enough to see a slate colored junco take his last seed and fly off over the cabin

A Good Idea
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

I love these pics. Cows are pretty cute up close. The scenery reminds me a little of SW England.
